Marketing Week in the U.K. reports that Mentos is getting flak from advocacy groups for pushing its Diet Coke Geysers in school as a science experiment. Said one rep for a group called Sustain: "Given that both Mentos and Diet Coke are banned from sale in schools, this seems a sneaky way of advertising them by the back door."
The Mentos campaign will target 100,000 kids between 12 and 13. "Teachers will be able to download online resources, including lesson plans, experiments and details of competitions which will offer children thousands of pounds worth of science equipment for their schools," according to the report.
MW also reported this month that Coca-Cola has inked a deal with Italy's Illycafe to market a ready-to-drink coffee across the globe.
